Wallows at The Fillmore Charlotte – A Triumphant Reunion

Wallows showed up and out for a memorable night at The Fillmore.

On February 20th, Wallows returned to The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC, for the second night of their two-day residency, and the energy in the room was gratifying. Having seen the band evolve over the years, this show felt like a full-circle moment—a reunion of friends, fans, and the ever-growing Wallows community.

The night kicked off with fan favorites as the first three songs—”Anytime, Always,” “Scrawny,” and “OK” set the tone for what would be another stand out evening. Being front and center for these tracks made them even more special, but the real highlight of the night came with the live debut of “Coffin Change.” Freshly released the night before, Braeden Lemasters’ grungy, triumphant vocals commanded the room, and the collective realization that we were witnessing history unfold made the moment even more surreal. The entire venue erupted in excitement, embracing the privilege of being the first crowd to experience the song live.

Wallows have always delivered strong performances, but this time around; Their synergy as a band has never been more apparent—tight-knit, confident, and effortlessly in sync with their team and their audience. Their relationship with their fans has matured into something rare and genuine, a feeling that’s evident in every show they play.

A perfect example of this connection is the beloved “OK” ritual. When the song is on the setlist, fans know to anticipate the moment Dylan Minnette jumps onto the barricade, offering the mic to the crowd for a communal singalong. This tradition has become a hallmark of Wallows’ live shows, a moment of pure genuinity between the band and audience that never gets old.

For me, this show was more than just another night of live music. Nearly three years ago, I had the opportunity to cover Wallows at this very venue for the first time, an experience that altered the course of my career in music photography. The connections made that day, the doors that opened afterward, and the inspiration it gave me to keep chasing my dreams—it all started here.

To be back in the same place, watching the same band, but with an even deeper appreciation for how far we’ve all come, was indescribable. This felt like a matured version of that first show, with friendships and professional relationships that have only strengthened over time. It’s proof that music isn’t just about the songs—it’s about the people you meet, the moments you share, and the way it all shapes you.

Wallows continue to evolve, both sonically and as performers, and this show was a testament to their growth. If this night was any indication of what’s to come, then the future of Wallows—and their community—is brighter than ever and will continue to shine effortlessly.
